During the walk, there will be the occasional ghost story—and perhaps it’s not just the guide and the group moving through the corridors. A dramatized guided tour featuring unexpected encounters, suspense, and just the right amount of chills.

The sturdy walls of Carlstens Fortress wrap around the Donjon and Kommendantshuset. In these 18th and 19th century buildings, you stay in Soldathotellet’s charming rooms, just like thousands of soldiers have done over the years.

Carlsten Fortress is located on the island of Marstrand, about 45 kilometers northwest of Gothenburg. You can get there by car, bus or boat. Since car traffic is prohibited on Marstrandsön, you can take the passenger ferry from Koön to Marstrandsön by car or bus. The ferry crossing only takes a couple of minutes.
