Carlsten Fortress is located on the island of Marstrand, about 45 kilometers northwest of Gothenburg. You can get there by car, bus or boat. Since car traffic is prohibited on Marstrandsön, you can take the passenger ferry from Koön to Marstrandsön by car or bus. The ferry crossing only takes a couple of minutes.
